need some advice
Well i took my 68 coupe to work today and one of the guys asked me what my car was worth. I told him it was appraised at 7500. He said to me he was gunna offer me 9 grand! Since i only paid 4250 for it should i sell this thing? I dont have any wheels if i do though and i need transportation. But i would better then double my money and i could buy a real nice car for around 13k. I do have some money right now too. What should i do?
If it were me there is no way i would be selling the car for 9G. for 13 you could get a little rice burner for your daily commute and get stuck in traffic with the minivans and the hybrids and sure not have to worry about over-heating etc. OR you could rage against the man and drive you Gas guzzlin, head turning classic stang and tell that guy to go buy his own 50mpg bubble car with a built in sissy bar. just my opinion though. Ya i would be buyin somethin classic again forsure. Thats what i meant by a real nice car. Mine is nice but its no show winner. There was a really nice 69 coupe on the auto trader for 13k. Light blue with a black vinyl top. Black interior with a 351W and a 3 speed auto. No i sure as hell wouldnt be buyin a modern car. Sorry if anyone got the wrong idea by a "real nice car"

Oh ya, this car is twice the car mine is. There was also a nice 67 coupe springtime yellow straight from the south. It was mint as well. Black interior. Im also thinkin about hackin away at the 68 for a whileand selling it when iam happy with what i am selling because there are somethings that i would like to deal with before i sell it. So im still thinkin. Thanx for the advice though and i will let you know what my final decision is.
Being in a similar situation I will just give you what I did and why. Bought a rare Pontiac Formula for $6500, knowing it was rare, but not entirely how rare it was. Turns out there were only 276 built that year with that engine. Add into the mix that is a one off factory color by special order (a medium blue with black interior, not an original GM color) and that makes it one of one.
So I asked a few people about it on a well respected Pontiac site, they told me it was an ask your price car. One guy offered me $20k sight unseen and it was a serious offer. Two others PMed me offering over $35k, so do I sell a car that I have always wanted that I got from a good friend for a very reasonable amount? Yeah always wanted one, but never even considered that I would ever find one let alone own it. But that $30,000 profit on the car looks tantalizing since I am unable to work and always could use money.
Keep it or sell it? Since its nowhere close to being nice, it has alot of rust in the quarters and trunk floor from being an Alaska car, but numbers matching, its value will only go up with time, and especially if I restore it to like new condition. So maybe in ten years or something I will sell it to fund my daughters college, but right now I have always wanted one, so its mine, no matter what anyone offers me. I would regret selling it to the day I die.
Yes its not your case, but do you know exactly what your car is worth? Is the guy at work in my position and you are in the same position as my friend I got the car from? How much do you like the car? Was it your dream car? If you want a Mach or fastback, then tell him you want the same amount as the other guy wants for the more desireable car. He offers $9k, so you tell him recent info says $14k, then see what he does.
