You can have everything hooked up but the plugs, which have to be taken out.

Yeah but I DONT have everything hooked up. However it did say that the car needs to be running with a good amount of air (should have gotten the clue from the name COMPRESSION but that's okay) moving throughout the engine. I guess that means that I gotta get the air cleaner on and postpone removing the carb

I forgot about this. Disable the ignition module or coil. But that is not totally necessary if you have the plug wires disconnected, and the plugs out.
