Default A resale Project

I have a '67 mustang, two-door coupe, with an inleine-6 200ci. Its not much when it comes to power but she is my baby. I'm working on her through out my next few years in high school and sadly i plan to sell her to pay for my mission that i hope to serve for my church, as well as some college. She is in pretty good shape. No accidents, very little rust bubbles here and there, the intereior isn't all chewed up. Lights and electrical all work fine. Mostly it just needs some polishing up and some tuning with the power train. What im trying to get to here, is i was wondering what i could do to up the resale value for my car. I got a steal of a deal on her (2300), and i also recently got a great deal on some new chrome, american racing wheels (100). So far im not in but just a little over 3 grand. Im hopping to sell for around 5-6 grand if im lucky. What are some things that really appease the buyer? What are some things not to do when working on the car? Just some basic ideas on what i could do to make the car worth 5-6 grand.

Take it to Maaco and have it repainted, then sell it immediately.

Sould i do any new work on the interior, or engine? I has thinking of installing a new muffler system, (headers, flows or some other tpye of muffler, the whole deal) allowing the car to sound a lot better and run a lot more efficent that its current state. It has a rebuilt engine with only 2000 miles on it... This car is also lacks any power assist. would power brakes up the resale value? is it worth the work and cost? what about power steering?

no, it's not worth putting that stuff on it. You will be hard pressed to sell a 6 banger for 5000-6000. I only paid 2000, for my 289 66. just like yours, but the paint probably alittle better. anyway. New paint, and a good car salesman.

I second the paint. It's probably the best thing you could do. Then maybe detail the engine bay a little and sell her. Like 6mustang6 said, its going to be hard to sell a six cylinder. Everyone is going for the v8's.

And before you ask your next question a V8 conversion is expensive!

About the only thing that probably going to help it more would be if it had some concours detailing.

thanks alot for your guys help. I really appreciate it. Paint is definently on my mind, but in the future. I'm a sophmore in high school and i WILL NOT trust the students in the parking lot with a new paint job. Thank you for all you guys have done!
