Default 1965 Fastback

Ok,

Here is something which I would like to track down. I am newer to the classic mustangs and cut my teeth on 1987 and newer. However, my wife and I have recently bought what I consider our dream car. We were planning on changing the color but are now thinking otherwise. The color is original Tropical Turquoise. It is a fastback 2+2 with the white interior. It is all original and has been in storage for the last 27 years, but mother nature has not been overly kind to her, so she will need a restoration.

So here is the question. Does anyone know how many 1965 fastbacks were built with the Tropical Turquoise / white interior combination?

Next question, what do the Gold Valve covers signify. I have heard a couple of things, and I want to feel out the forum....

THanks,

Not sure about the color combination but the gold valve covers were stock if memory serves me correctly.

Yeah, the valve covers and air cleaner were gold in 1965 only. Here is a pic of my 65 engine bay. You will also notice that the snorkle to the air cleaner is black as well as the oil filler cap and dipstick. Those are factory concours colors.

I don’t think any one can answer that question, due Ford destroying all the files up till 1967 and that’s a beautiful color combo I wouldn’t change a dam thing!
