66 front end issue
Shop realigned wheels and backed off the torque on the idler arm. As my Ford dealership explained...because so many front end parts were replaced, car needed to be driven to allow all connections and bushings to settle in place. Factory spec torque on idler arm was too much for some reason. Needed to be backed off to stop the pulling from side to side. Tech suggested replacing factory correct idler arm bearing with a roller bearing for smoother, safer steering. Vibration was due to two things. First, wheels were not balanced correctly. Styled steel wheels need to be held by lug nut holes when balancing, not the center. The kid didn't know. Second... two of the wheels are slightly out of round. Will replace them when I catch my financial breath. They were put on rear. All was warranty...no charge. Now the steering and handling is really nice with only slight vibration between 50 and 55. No drifting or pulling at all. On to the next thing...Front break job with new drums and replacing single bowl master cylinder with a dually. Then the rear (3.20 equalock) comes apart to replace what sounds like a bad axle bearing on passanger side. Hope that is all it is. Then the engine gets a full tune up and the fun begins! CRUISE.....CRUISE.......AND CRUISE SOME MORE.........Who will be attending the MCA NE Mustang Nationals in Sturbridge MA...7/13-7/16? Thanks to all ...Ed
