Default What is NOS?

I have a simple question. What is NOS (New Old Stock)? I assume it means a newly made part, paterned after an old or original part. Is this true?

NOS is an original equipment component which has never been installed. It does indeed mean " New Old Stock " but it is often used when referring to a brand new component. Typically people like NOS parts because they can be sure they fit and function exactly as the originals. If it's NOS Ford, it probably came from the same original Ford molds as the parts used on the production line when the car was manufactured . Hope this helps, Dean
