Default Tips on installing a Grant Steering wheel

Hi all,
I have ordered a Grant signature series steering wheel for my 66 coupe. It's the 13.5 inch wheel.I'm hoping it'll make it easier to get my 6'2" frame in :-) My deluxe wheel needs repairing (don't they all ?) so I thought I'd go for the Grant for now until I can find someone who can repair the original.
I have since read some posts that they are cheap quality and commonly have problems with the horn sounding continuously when it shouldn't.
Does anyone have any experiences with these ? Or any tips on installation that may help ?
Thanks in advance
Ron

I am also 6'2" and let me tell you the grant makes a huge difference for us tall guys! I havent had a problem with mine at all, i think its just people dont put it together correct. It isnt very hard to do it wrong because the instructions are as crappy as a honda! well good luck and hopefully you like it, any question feel free to ask

Thanks Volcom66.I may take you up on some advice when it comes to installing it..
I guess 6'2" isn't big in the USA but that factory steering wheel does make it hard for me to get in.I have to slide my left leg in first and then my head and then my baskside to get in.It's right hand drive of course.
I'm hoping the 13.5" wheel will make that easier.
I don't know if I should tell you guys but I just bought my wife a new Honda ! I'm not taking offense though :-) as she's happy and so am I with mine.
Mind you my best buddy is a mopar boy + refuses to let me park the Honda on his driveway ! He barely tolerates the "girlie" car...my mustang.

I am 6'4", and the Grant wheel did help some. I had problems with the horn contact plates. It seemed that they were a little too sensitive for my tastes. I bought an assortment of small springs to alleviate the problem. I put the springs around each of the three connector bolts, between the two contact plates. I had to cut the springs down so that there wasn't too much travel, but so far it is working great.

For repairing the original, give these guys a holler. http://www.dealsonwheels.com/parts/garys/
Grant steering wheels are notorious for not fitting and working right. LaCarerra steering wheels are expensive, and for a restomod, they work very well.

yeah i got the grant adapter kit to use with my non-grant steering wheel and the direction were almost literally....

1. Take off old steering wheel.

2. Put on new one.

and a picture of the new steering wheel on a steering column.......

WOW. great. so basically i just guessed and checked until it worked.

i had to buy an extra spacer too that wasnt included with the adapter kit....they dont even tell you that.
