Default RTV?

I'm replacing most/all of the engine gaskets to stop every little leak the 351W is now plagued with (timing cover gasket, water pump gasket, intake manifold gasket, oil pan gasket - just about everything except the head gaskets). Which gaskets get RTV sealant (I'd guess they all do?), and does it matter whether I use the blue or black RTV sealant?

Thanks!

When i did the oil pan gasket on mine i used rtv sealant on just the pan side of the oil gasket because the other side is machined flat so it will seal with out the goop. On the intake just use it around the sealant ports otherwise you may cause an intake leak. On the water pump use lots, as the water is good at finding a hole. Ive never done a timing cover gasket.

I use a thin, and I repeat THIN coating of RTV blue on all gaskets. The secret is to make sure the parts are in good shape (not bent or warped) and to use good quality gaskets. Felpro makes probably the best gaskets, and to pay attention to the torque for each application. Too little, or too much torque can cause leaking.
