Default 289 vs 302

Which in yalls opinion is the better motor? Which one last longer? Do you think the 289 is better because of the shorter stroke and longer rod? Or do you think the bigger displacement of the 302 is better?
Just over all which is the better motor and why?

They are basically the same engine. You can build either of them to get better performance from the factory originals.

The 289 is too. It would depend on which engine you are starting with regarding costs. If you already have a 289, you can easily get it up to beyond the specs of a 302. But, if you are starting with a 302, then yes, you can make a monster engine from that format.

the shorter stroke of the 289 will allow it to rav quicker. A 302 has longer cylinder sleaves to make up for the longer stroke, and a later 302 has roller bearings for the cam.

All in all, I prefeer a roller cam 302

I personally think that one is just as good as the other. I believe that the 289 heads are much better stock than the 302's because of the smaller combustion chambers. Another thing is if you are talking about a roller block 302 or not!!
