I spent two and a half hours jacking the car up THEN pulling the oil pan just to see...Also it apears this car came with some sort of special bell housing!!! I have never seen this type of bell housing before!!

Anyway, the motor had the THICK bearing caps, the 3/8 inch rod bolts, and the little counter wieght in the front behind he timing chain......so now I guese I can legitamatly change the vin numbers on the fender aprins to mach the door and the title.. correct?

I guess the real question is WHAT DO I DO NOW?? reason I ask is, because I originally was after a restomod...I could have careless about originality matching numbers and all....I just wanted a cool fastback with a mild 302 in it to drive every day...But then I found the 66 K code GT...now I feel like I am doing a diservice not building it original....I tell you I would trade this car for a VERY SOLID Fastback rolling shell ANY DAY!!

Congratulations! I haven't been following your story too closely up to this point, but I certainly understand your dilemma. My opinion? If your new K-code is a complete car, I say clean it up the best you can (without spending more money) and re-sell. If you take good pics of all the internals that prove its pedigree, you can then in good conscience sell it as the real thing. Use that money to buy your fastback driver.

Lucky! If the car is in so/so condition, take the advice.....Document the "K" code engine, sell the car and get what you want. If you don't want to do that, then by all means restore it. Since the fender VINs don't match the tag(which could have been changed anyway), you could always sell the "K" engine itself and get the 302.
I wish I had your "dilemma"

Yeah you know I could just sale the K code motor and use the money to do rust repair on the thing...What does a complete hipo 289 bring these days?

I was thinking though the WHOLE car with the HiPo would bring more than just the Hipo alone....even though the VIN's on the aprins are screwed up...I figured get the VIN's on the aprin to match the orginal Title and door tag....I mean the car has Big disk brakes up front, a 4 speed top loader, a 9 inch rear end, trumpet exsuast, Large master cylinder, and the GT badges and the HiPo badges....I sould get GOOd money for the whole car it seems...

I guess there are some problems that are just good to have! I'm like you, I don't think I'd restomod the K-Code but hey, as long as you do no permenant damage, what would be the harm? Just a thought!!

Yeah that is the though...just don't make any permenant dmamges but do what you want, and keep all the original stuff in a box some where....But I would trade with someone who had a SOLID body already that was a C code or something.....
