Yes, you could! The GT package wasn't exclusive to the K Code at all!

thanks for clearing this up as i was suspecting it was possible. it seems like sooo many people throw around this term GT on just about every other mustang. i guess the "GT" in a GT exists in many different ways. this is soooo confusing and funny for a newbie like me. i think i'll turn my A code into a GT. . .

p.s.- i'm not hating on those who add the repro GT things to their mustangs. heck, i might do it too (the rear GT valance is very attractive!!)

I agree, with the lack of details available, it's tough to tell what's real and what's been made to look real. I don't mind what anyone does to their car as long as they're truthful about it to everyone.

As far as the GT goes, I THINK (operative word here) that you could even get a 200 CID GT but I'm not certain.

I don't think so Michael. The 6 banger 200's had a "Sprint" package, but not the GT package.

Glen,

You may be correct. I just had this image of a '66 Fastback 6 cyl that was advertised as a factory GT car! I'll see if I can do some more checking on this to find a definitive answer.

The GT package was definitey only available on "A" code and "K" code cars. "T" or "C" were not ever GTs. (Though Im sure there are heaps out there that now claim to be!)

Your definitive answer is that there is no such animal - guaranteed. You'll not find an original Ford ad for a 6 cyliner GT, I can assure you.

Thanks Dan for clearing that up! With the lack of documentation on the 65-66, there are surely some GT's that have been built that weren't from the factory! That may have been what I saw, or I may just remember the car wrong.
