Default 360 engine?

We have a 73 F250 with an old 360 in it.. Has 2 dead cylinders. My dad is going to be buying a bigger engine for it soon, and start some restoring. I was wondering if this would fit in a 67, or later mustang. Maybe later down the road Ill get it rebuilt and fixed then but it in. I loved it when it ran right, and I want a bigger engine in my car. Just kinda curious if it would work so I can convince my mom to let me have it.

Yeah, it will. It's the same block as the 390 motor, but it is a strictly truck motor, so it's going to be a low reving motor. When you overhaul it I would suggest at least changing the cam.

Get a 390 crank, rods and .030 over 390 piston (provided the cylinders will clean up at that) find some better heads for it. You can get aluminum heads for them now. Throw away the stock intake and put on a dual plane aluminu one. The stock one is almost 90lbs. Put in a cam that has 230-234@.050 intake duration and 238-242@.050 exhuast duration. Add a set of headers and a 3" system back to the mufflers then 2.5 out the back and you will have a nice runnin engine. Same bore as a 390 different stroke so you are making it a 390 + 6 ci. Oh and a 750 vacuum secondary carb.

Well thanks for all the info, now Ill start the process of convincing my mom to let me have it. They want to turn it in for the core charge on a new motor. And my dad is pushing me to get an even bigger one for my car...but this seems cheaper than spending $5000 on a new crate motor. What would you estimate the HP on it with the above done?
