Default been a while but..

hey its been a while since i have been on. i have been searching and searching and saving cash. and i found off a classified listing online a 1968 mustang convertible 200cid for $6000. its been worked on alot but theres rust in the front portion of the frame rail. i believe to repair rust on the frame you would have to cut off the frame and weld new bars onto it? am i right? does $6000 seem a little high for something like this? i also emailed the guy asking for some pics of this rust to see the extent of it. just thought some of you might have some input.

In my book some surface rust is OK but I would avoid a car with severly rusted frame rails, rotted trunk or floor boards. These can be very expensive to fix on top of all the interior, exterior and mechanical work you may have to do just to make this a safe, presentable driver. Start with something solid. You will be glad you did.
