Default Conv 1968

I am new to this forum and I have a chance to buy a 1968 Convertible Mustang from a friend. He has owned it for the last 18 years but it hasn’t been driven for a while now. He was going to restore it with his sons but they are not interested. The engine is good and there is really no rust, we are in Southern California and the car has been here since it was new. It needs work like new bumpers, top and things like that, but nothing real major. This would be the first time I would try restoring a car. He wants $7500.00 for it and I would like other people’s opinions about this that have been thought this before I decide to buy it.

It's hard to find a SoCal convertible in decent shape for that kind of money. I would jump on it if you have the cash, and put it back to original condition. You could double your money easily.
On edit: Is it a V8 or a 6 cylinder car. That will make a difference in the price.

What do you think it costs to restore a car like this. I would like to drive it for fun not everyday but still be as close to original as possible. Just a ball park figure of cost and time involved in a project like this.

That would all depend on how far you want to restore it. Do you want a trailer queen where you only show it, or do you want a daily driver?
