Hi Guys,

I'm looking to do a little upgrading on my sound system. Has anyone done this yet? I found a good website for audio that keeps the original look www.custom-autosound.com. I was thinking about changing the deck and the speakers. I had a couple questions on that. How difficult is it to change the center counsole speaker? Also, did the car come with rear speakers? Mine doesn't have them, but I don't know if it was restored and just not put in or if it just doesn't have them. If I put some in, how much would that affect my value of the car? Any suggestions on what you guys did.?

Custom Autosound Inc. is made by Kenwood, so should be a good product. They have a CD system that will even work in the 65-66 models without cutting the dash. Also, Look at Jensen radios if you don't need a CD changer. As far as speakers and wires, all it takes is some wire, speakers and time to route the wires. The better your sound system sounds will only improve in the value of your car, so don't let that be a determining factor. Now, I am a purist, so my car has an AM radio with the one speaker in the dash.

 

NPD sells a radio faceplate for 69/70's that allows you to install a cd player in the original radio location without cutting anything. There are cutouts in the metal part of the package tray for 4x10 speakers. Don't know if you want to go with that or not but you can always cut it for a set of 6x9's. The dash speaker is easy to replace once you take the dash pad off. No other way to get to it.
