you need to let your dad know as well that with not a lot of money and time you can fix up really any one of the cars you mentioned and make a huge profit from it. These classics are going anywhere but down as far as value goes, if you can find a great rust free all around solid car, ****** it becasue there fading away slowly
i told my dad that and he said it looked like the owner badly painted the car, stuck 4 GT hubs on it, stuck the GT badges, and wired in the GT foglights i the grille. its probably gone now.
Your dad may just know what he's talking about. I know what it feels like to just want to buy a mustang, and you have a tendancy to "overlook" certain aspects of the car. Not to say you did, but I know how you feel. Your dad's just making sure you get the most for your money.

right now i drive a 90 lx hatchback mustang, but i must part with it because my brother will start driving soon and this will be his car. my dad bought an 06 GT mustang last october, and he bought a 71 mach 1 we both restored slowwly over 2 years. i asked him if he would sell me it, but he wouldnt, but he did promise he would give me up too $2000 for a mustang. i dont know what his deal is.
