To use or not to use?
I was given some headers and have been wanting to put them on. the problem is that they are not finished and need to be primed and painted. since my car doesn't have an exhaust right now i will be getting one installed. the dilemma im in is that if i wait to put them on i won't be able to drive the car. which is a big problem right now since i need a car. so what would be nice is if someone could tell me the time spent waiting would be worth it. i am going to be going with 40 series flowmasters and h pipe.

If you have some butt ugly headers that you feel a need to paint, then that is an overnight deal. Are you in that big of a hurry? If they were mine, I would slap then on and get the car running. Worry about looks later.
Well, I firmly believe that if you're going to do something, do it right the first time and don't revisit it again. So, wait and do it once.

the thing is the headers were rusted out so im not even sure if they are good to put on the car. i had gotten most of the outside rust off just not on the inside. i was just wondering if putting headers on will make that big of a difference. it means being able to drive the car or not.
Just remember one thing about them headers. At some point you will need to re-finish them again. Painted headers do not last at all when it comes to the finish. For the track car, looks are not important but, most of us I think like things to look nice as well. I went with ceramic coated headers so, they last just about forever looking great.
I would say to just brush off the rust and call it good. Unless you get ceramic-coated headers the paint will probably burn off in one trip, so you had better take a picture before you start the engine.

no, i was going to recommend to have them powder coated (high temp) its fast and fairly cheap + it will hold up better than the primer/paint. Make sure it is done in high temp powder coating though.
