Default Headlight Pull Switch

What does the pull switch mount to behind the dash? Mine broke I think. I have to reach under the dash, hold the little assembly, then push the switch in to cut my headlights off.....it wasnt like this a couple weeks ago so I just wanted to ask what it hooked to. Thanks!

You say the bezel screws onto it? What bezel? Would it be located directly under the assembly?

If 68 is like 66, the bezel (chrome ring on the dash that says "lights") just screws on to the threaded core of the switch assembly that sticks through the hole in the dash. Works like a nut on a bolt. Does it appear loose? Does the push/pull lever move up or down?

Yeah, the 68 should be just like that. There should also be a little button on the switch mechanism that you push down and will let you pull the **** out of the switch.

Yes it wobbles up and down....So your saying if i turn the **** to the right it will tightn up? Or the little ring? The little ring has a peg in it that goes in a hole. Like how badges go on fenders. Didnt see any threaded items.

*bump* My light switch is being held to the dash by a zip tie as of now. I dont have any "bolt" type thing on my switch like you metioned. My car is a 66.

Oops, my mistake. See the url below from Mustangs Unlimited catalog. The bezel must include the threaded core and that screws into the switch assembly. That explains why your push/pull lever looks normal (flush against the dash) but is still floppy. The switch assembly is not up tight against the backside of the dash. On the switch assembly, on the right (passenger side) there is a little detent (spring-loaded button); push that in while pulling out on your lever; that will disengage the lever and pull it out. Then put a screw driver in the slot on the bezel and tighten it up while holding the switch assembly firmly. Reinsert the push/pull rod till it clicks. Again, detent button on right, harness plug on left (the catalog pic is a little misleading; that's the plug-in side showing; rotate it 90 degrees CCW for correct positioning). Hope this helps.
