Help, Clutch Problems!
i have recently just changed my car from automatic to clutch. using the t-5 setup with a cable (not hydraulic clutch). theres a brand new return spring on my pedal assembly which makes the damn clutch super hard to push in. Thats not to big of a deal though... my bigger problems are that my actually clutch pedal sticks probably 3inchs higher than the brake and gas pedal. Along with that when the pedal is pushed all the way to the floor the new spring actually works in the opposite direction and it makes the pedal stick down. Eventually the pressure from the clutch will push the pedal back up. So those are my two main problems and i would really like to fix the goofy looking high clutch and the (not undrivable) but impractical clutch sticking problem.
any suggestions would be awesome, thx much! and if this is confusing i can take pictures =D

The clutch pedal is going to be a little higher that the brake pedal, that just the way it is. The spring on the pedal is working correctly. After it gets past a certain poin it pull the pedal down to assist with the clutch pedal pressure.
If its the under dash spring, remove it. Clutch will work fine without it and, in fact, if you have a diaphram type of pressure plate, its the preferred way to go. The many fingers of the diaphram will return the pedal. Removing the spring is easy. Disconnect the cable, if you can, and push the pedal to the floor. Then remove the upstop for the pedal. Then bring the pedal all the way up to near horizontal. The spring will literally fall off. Push pedal back down and replace upstop.
The spring under the dash is there to assist you in pushing and holding the clutch in. I do not recommend taking it out. The pressure plate should return the pedal to the top. If it is not I would say you have some binding in the linkage. If the pedal is hard to push now it will be that much harder with the spring removed.
Modern Mustangs with T-5's and cable clutches don't have a return spring. Essentially, you are making this a modern clutch system on an old Mustang. The big spring under the dash is not necessary in your case.
so ive removed the assist spring on the pedal assembly and it made the clutch return properly and the stiffness in the clutch didnt change much which is fine. but now my problem lies with the throw out bearing. im afraid that when the clutch is released the throw out bearing will only come out to the edge of the pressure plate forks and continue to ride on the pressure plate. i know this part has more to do with ajusting the clutch to the right places (i think) but this would be my first time actually ajusting a clutch and im kinda lost...
when i loosen the clutch cable so the throw out bearing is not touching the pressure plate there is almost no pedal travel and the ajustment nut on the tranny is at the very end of the cable threads... any suggestions would be good again
