302 Engine numbers?
Hello!
I have a 1969 Fastback and it came with a 302. I was thinking of changing the engine to a 351, but a few people have told me that the original motor is better, and worth more money. They told me to check the engine numbers, but I am not exactly sure where to look. I checked it out and this is what I saw:
0 C80E-6015-A
Are those the numbers I should be looking for? Any info would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

Well that casting number is definitely a 302. As for leaving it or swapping it for a 351, it depends on what you want to do. I personally love the 302, and the 351, but parts are much more availble for the 302 and cheaper. You can easliy get large increases in HP out of the 302 and if the 302 you have is running great I would leave it in there. It is your toy, deicide what is most important to you and run with it. The pic of your 69' looks great too!

I'm with Mark on this one. I would personally keep the 302 and beef it up. Why have an engine sitting on a stand in the garage when it can be running in your car? Yeah, the 351 can be built too, but then you need to get rid of the original 302, and explain to Mama why you have an engine in the way out in the garage where she could be parking her new Caddy.
Thanks for the info! I might go with a 351, and maybe save the 302.
Soaring, by the way I don't live with my Mama...you are right about needing room in my garage though...for my Mustang when it's done!
