OK, A "stock" 289 A code was supposed to have 220 Hp, but with todays measurment techniques this only really equates to about 160 -175 hp. If you are talking about RWHP, a C4 loses around 25% and a manual loses around 20%, so you are looking at somewhere between 125 - 140 HP at the wheels. Simply by strapping on a 600 Cfm carby, Ignition, Performer manifold (basically stock) and headers (what exhaust?) you really are only adding aroung 20Hp. (over a stock 4bbl A code)
If your was originally a C code 2 BBL, you are adding more like 30Hp. Regardless, your RWHP would now be somewhere around 145 - 160 Hp. Of coarse this is assuming everything alse is stock. If a better cam has been slipped in there, you would be looking at a little more.

aftermarket heads, headers, a cam around 230/238@.050 or slightly bigger, a single plane intake, and about a 600-650cfm carb. Not just any head either, you need a high velocit high flow port, not a huge 220cc head, more like a 180cc. Its gonna need some rpm too.

ok, i kno ive asked tthise before but if i just put a nice carb, intake manifold, and exhuast system, get the stang painted (which my mustang has been garage kept for about 18 years so its got no rust anywhere, except in the headlight assembley and thats only becuase the headlight was out. but i plan on replacing that with a brand new aassembly) how much will it sell for? can i get 20k out of it possibly?

unless it's a convertible or a fastback, HECK NO. Unless it is in emaclent condition. All original with very low original mileage and heavily optioned.
