how much horsepower?
just wondering if there is a specific reason you want to get rid of this car? sounds to me like you got a kick *** FB that, if anything, needs a little bit of fresh paint and a smudge of TLC.
and by the way, you can use my color scheme, for a fee! LOL!

Just keep it.. You will miss it entirely too much if you sell. 300hp is a pretty high number for a streetable small engine, dont get discouraged over a hp number. It would still move really well if built and geared right with less hp.
A single plane because it would need to be a higher rpm engine, like 3000-6500 or possibly even capable of 7500. A Performer RPM intake would be the only dual plane I would use on it. It depends on the heads and cam as to how much you would have to wring it out. Bigger cam and more airflow on a small engine will mean more RPM if the rods can stay inside the block.
It is possible, and with some effort it could be a fun driver, I wouldnt drive it daily, but I would often.

i was talking about getting a 02 trans am with my father, he told me that it would be nice but they arent making anymore 67 fastbacks. and the fastback is a truly unique car. I think i am going to keep it, ill probably just end up putting a 4bbl carb, performer rpm intake, and exhuast system on it for the time being, then i think im going to save up for one of these

i think it might take a while but it will be worth it in the end

I think some people have unrealistic ideas of horsepower of their engines.Everyone wants to believe it has more horsepower than it has.
There is an old rule of thumb that one horsepower per cubic inch is a very stout engine.
I have a 289 in my 66 coupe that has Dart Heads,Performer dual plane manifold, solid cam .476 lift 228 duration, mighty demon carby, pacemaker extractors, electronic ignition and fully balanced. It has been dynoed at 328 horsepower.
To add a 600 Holley,a dual plane manifold and electronic iginition would gain you around 30 horses max over a stock 4 barrell 289 (225 hp).By the way do not run a single plane manifold on the street unless you're going all the way with a performance engine. The power band will be higher in the range and require a matching bigger cam, extractors, heads, lower diff gears and on and on it goes.
The beauty of the 289 engine is it's low down torque and drive ability.Stick with the dual plane.
There's no cheap way to go fast. The "J" curve comes into play when chasing horses. The first few extra are cheap and then they progressively get very expensive.
Unfortunately it's addictive chasing the power. You get your engine crackin' on really well and you're very happy. Then in no time you think it doesn't go that well and you want more.
Then if you are really addicted you find you've ruined your driveability with big cams, big high stall converters and low gears.
I wouldn't get too hung about the actual HP your engine has.The seat of the pants dyno is the very best.Just enjoy your ride !

Nice engine Ron, good combo that works well together. Dyno proof of a combo is a nice thing to have, otherwise you are just guessing right?
Now I am curious about what a 289 built the way I mentioned would make with some good heads... or better yet a 5.0L for my F150..
