Default How Rare?

My wife just bought me a '68 Coupe J code. It has the interior Decora package. Overhead console, floor console, deluxe upholstery with double chrome tabs in each seat and on each side in the rear. The door panels look exactly like GT models with the wood grain insert with the shelby trim piece along the bottom. This is not a GT car, as it does not have the GT emblems on it.

What I'm wondering is this a rare enough car to restore to original or not?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Semi

What are the first 5 digits of the VIN ? Just because the emblems aren't on it doesn't mean it's not a GT. They may have been removed sometime in its' life. The J code is a 302 4 barrel car. Post some pics and let's look at it. Thanks, Dean

i'm wondering where i could find a woman like your wife, you lucky dog!

as per the resto, the question is, do you want to resto it to origional or do you wanna beef everything up and make a fast car outta it? whatever your needs/wants/budget allows is the direction you should head. welcome to MF, GL with the project, and keep us posted!

Ya, gotta admit I'm a lucky man!!!

Anywhoski, the first five of the vin are "8R01J".

I just ordered a Marti Report, so I should know some more soon.

I'll post some pics later.

Welcome to the site Noob. Pull up a chair and hang around. Let us know what the Marti report says. It certainly sounds like a GT.
