I got Pulled Over Today!!
So it seems the carb had a busted power valve, which is why it wouldn't start or stary running. So my dad and a friend rebuilt it at their work. Today we slapped it back in and it ran wonderfully, starts without giving it gas. I was so excited, so we decided to see how it drove. Took it to the gas station and back. Now, it has no fenders, no bumper, or really any front parts at all. So my mom wanted to drive it to go get a soda. Fine, and I start to drive it back and I pull into the left hand turn lane. Across the intersection a cop spots me and immediatly shoots over to get behind me as I turn. Pulls me over for not having a front license plate, and get this: Mud Flaps. I didn't have proof of insurance or my registration cause its in the glove box which is sitting here at home in the garage. But since I used signaled I was turning with my hands he let me go. But I didn't care I was excited to drive it...and dont ya know it I was going to go into the high school parking lot and open her up but nah... He listed over $600 in fines and even commented on how nice it sounds and how the interior looks.
I got lucky
What really bugs me though is the Mud Flaps. I don't know why a small car would need them, and apparently after talking to some guys around down they've been issuing sitations on all vehicles without them (4x4 and lifted cars/trucks).

he was just messing with u on the mudflaps! unless the city or county there has some kinda ordinance on vehicles that have tires that are outside the vehicle!
If you look down the side of the car, the only way you can see them sticking out is if your turning. I really don't know about this, I asked a friend of mine who is a cop in the next town over that its perfectly legal to drive it aslong as I have the license plate visible (which I thought I did) and Im not driving around at night (no brainer).
When I first got Ol' Yeller, she had mud flaps and a luggage carrier on the trunk lid. Well, the first thing I did was to rip off the mud flaps. And, when I had the body restored I had them rip off the luggage carrier. I guess those were some options from the factory back then, because he mud flaps were certainly not aftermarket. And, I know for certain that the luggage carrier was an option.
I don't know of any Discreet mud flaps. In the classic Mustang world, you will get laughed out of the country for having mud flaps of any kind.
Just make sure the quarter panel has several layers of good wax. Instead of any oil based tar remover, I just clean mine with a car wash and another coating of wax. It's surprising how a good car wash liquid mixed with water and Meguiars wax removes the tar and bugs, etc.

I'm sure it is a "no fender" thing. Open wheels probably a safety factor from slinging gravel or something.
