I got Pulled Over Today!!
I'd say drive it ! It would be my opinion that this cop was not necessarily accurate in his statements. Think about how many hi-boy roadsters are out there without ANY fenders. What about fat tired motorcycles without much more than a hint of a fender out back and no fender up front ? The firewall and door jam of your car is every bit as effective as a mudflap when it comes to blocking gravel etc...
OR......................you might go see the local chief of police and explain your predicament. I'll bet he or she gives you permission to make the trip from one shop to another. On one occasion a few years ago I actually drove my restored NASCAR race car to a car show with the PD's OK. I traveled about 2 miles each way on paved city streets without any trouble at all. Lot's of finger pointing and wide eyed stares but the cops never said a word. Of course my wife followed me with the flashers on in her car. Just a thought, Dean

highboys and fenderless cars arent legal everywhere. some places have local ordinances that require you to have fenders of some sort. That is why you see some street rods with bobed fenders in rear and motorcycle type fronts. it depends on where you live as to whats legal or not.
Either way, as long as you ask the one in charge and arent doing anything stupid with the car while its out, you probably wont get hassled. We have driven some full on drag cars with open headers and slicks between shops and one time between towns. If it became a habit or we were cruising with it, then we would have had more problems I think.
We also found out, it only takes one smoky burnout that obscures an entire city block to get the cops all in a twitter about your car.

Thanks for the replies, Ill prolly head over there and ask sometime today or tomorrow. lol, no burnouts yet but we promptly hide my car after our first one down the street.
