4-speed manual help.
This problem is on my 63 Falcon but its the same as any 4-speed Stang. Anyway, I took her to a car show the other week, and I was turning the car to line up myself for a parking space behind me, and go into reverse and park, but as I go from from 1st to neutral then up into reverse, the tranny locks up. Doesnt completely engage into reverse. So I try putting it back into 1st....no go. I straighten the steering wheel cause this ALWAYS helps in the past, but again no go. I had to have others push me back into the parking space.
Hours later I decide to leave. I put her in first, give it juice as I pull off the clutch....revving but no going. After tons of trying I figured out the problem. The tranny got stuck in first gear, but did not engage with the wheels. Even with the clutch pushed in, you could not roll the car because the wheels locked up or something.
The next day, I come back with my F-150 and a car carrier from U-haul. The wheels still locked up, even with the clutch pushed in (mind you that the tranny is still stuck in first). So I call a tow-truck. Tow-truck gets there and what the F.....the car rolls even without pushing in the clutch. The car gets to a shop and I go home. The next day I get a call saying the Falcon is ready. I go down there to get it and they said "I understood what you told me, but we tried playing with it and nothing was wrong"....thats right, it worked like it originally did. Really nice shop, they didn't charge me a penny! Even for the tow-truck! I havn't had that problem in 2 weeks now, but I was wondering if anyone else had this happen? Or if they know a way to knock it out of that rut.

Are you sure the clutch is working? Even if it was hung in first gear, if you push in the clutch it should have rolled, right?

You probably had the trans in reverse and one of the foward gears at the same time. I won't roll like that. You have to get under the car and move all the gear sliders to neutral to free it up.
