Hi all,

I have a 67 289 auto that's been sitting for a few months. Today i went to drive it and noticed a pretty significant stuttering of the engine but only when in gear. In neutral i can give it full throttle and everything feels fine. I've tried adding newer gas and some fuel system cleaner and i've sprayed some carb cleaner and messed around with the timing.

Any body have any ideas? please help!

You may want to check the fuel filter & air filter

 

You need to drain your gas tank fully, and replace the fuel filter in the tank as well as the in-line fuel filter. You will most likely have to overhaul your carburetor. You have an old gas problem. Varnish........

 

I tried bypassing the inline fuel filter and removing the airflter but no change. I guess i'm off to drain the fuel tank and overhaul the carb. thanks for the replies!

If those suggestions dont help then a new fuel pump is probably in order

See what the plugs look like. Also could be the accelerator pump on the carb.

 

Everything said could be the problem as well as cross arching in the distributor cap. So, you need to drill down and find out if its fuel or electrical.
