Default valve adjustment procedure

Could someone tell me a where i could find the valve adjusting procedure for the 289?

Unless you have a K code, you have hydraulic valves. Here is the procedure.

i'll need that when i pull the head to check the piston and rings. can i tell if the oil ring was installed upside down? i'm grabbin' for straws here.

Why? Are you burning oil? Need some more information such as the mileage on that engine since the last overhaul.

Didn't know there was such thing as upside down on oil rings. That is why I let the experts do the short block.
