The first link has x pipes with cutouts. The second group is the x pipe without cutouts.

Cut outs are so you can open up the exhaust before it gets to the muffler. Loud as hell.... The other difference is that one is for a 2 1/2 " pipe, and the other is for a 3" pipe.

cutouts are the extra tube you see that can be capped and uncapped in order to let your exhaust vent close to the engine allowing more horses. Some cut outs, like the ones pictured, are bolted on, some have a mechanical mechanism so the driver can open and close them from the drivers seat. I think they may even make ones that open and shut electronically. Maybe not. Maybe I just made that up. How bout adding flame throwers to cut outs that slant away from the undercarriage? Ya Baby!! Back in the 50's, we used cut outs for drag racing. Mine had a cable like a manual choke that I could open it from the driver's seat. We didn't have X pipes though.

How well did they seal up when closed? I would think it would be difficult keeping them from leaking.

You can use the same mufflers. The muffler shop will fabricate it for you.
