Default KYB's are now installed

Today's project was to install the new KYB Gas Adjust shocks. Everything went well, except I had to use a little ingenuity to get the rear ones off. I didn't have a second set of hands, so I used my trusty pipe wrench to keep them from turning while I took the nuts off on top. I'm a little old to be crawling around in a trunk, but I managed to get those suckers off. Installing the new ones was easy.

Seems a lot tighter. I took her out on a curvy road, and it seems like I can take curves faster and with less lean than before. She also seems to sit lower in the front and higher in the rear. I got her up to 90 coming back home, and a curve that was posted at 50, I took at 90. I tapped the brakes just before entering the curve, then floored it in the middle of the curve. No problems at all.

I shopped around, and wound up getting them from Dallas Mustang. They were 129.00 for the four. About 10 bux more at NPD, and about a hundred more at the local parts place. Just be sure you get gas adjust and not the GR2's.
I have coil overs. See the coil going over the shock.

Soaring, you told me in another thread that they would just slip out once it was hanging and the nuts were off. I had ahell of a time getting them off. I had to use a pair of vise grips to stop it from spinning like you, but getting it out of the mounting tabs was hard. I had a combination of my floor jack, and 2 2x6's to pry them out. But they're out now and Ill be ordering KYB's soon.

Quick question, can you guess the weight of a 9" diff?

Mine just slipped out. I guess you had the rubber washers stuck, or the dish washer rusted to the threads. I have no idea what a 9" rear weighs. My floor jack is rated up to 3K pounds, so I don't have to worry about that sort of stuff. Why do you ask?

do you have a pic of a stock 66 front suspension? i just need one for comparing mine to.

I was just kidding about the coil overs. With a coil over, the shock and the spring are one unit, and they come out of the car as one unit. You then use a special spring suppresor mounted on a wall to separate the two. Our old Mustangs have shocks that happen to go on the inside of the springs, but are two separate units. There have been guys who have added the coil overs to their cars, but I see no need for it.
