Default Drip Rail Replacement...or removal?

ok....i cant get my mind off my rusty drip rails, they bother me a lot....i hammered out all the rust today and am wondering if someone know how i would even attempt to fix them??? isnt it sorta irreplaceable pieces of metal???

if a body shop could miraculously do it, how much do u guess it would cost???

does anyone have a pic with them shaved off on a 68 coupe??? or could someone photoshop it??? im leaning with this method but i dont want to cut something and want it back.....so i jsut want to make sure it looks good....the car probably wont be in the rain that much so i dont think thats a big problem.

thanks

shaving the drip rails is a major undertaking! its what bonds the outer roof skin to the inner structure por 15 makes a putty for drip rails and places like in a trunk rail, etc . i would try that then cover them with some regular por15 paint!

dang son i think it might be easier to grind them off and get some replacements, or shaving them which would look pretty cool but there will be a large gap u have to weld shut!

i know your right, but it was late and i couldnt find it after about 15 min of searching so i figured what the hay.....

see what i mean rmodel??? not such a crazy idea to cut em off as they are almost already cut off by nature......thats just one spot though so i dono, its repairable i guess but its gonna be hard to get them smooth using the epoxy putty i have....i dont have something to smooth it that is narrow enough u know??? like a very narrow sander or something.....i guess no one will really look in the drip rails that much but it would just annoy me i guess.......

but it is a huge undertaking for a body shop to shave them though right? it wouldnt be very cheap?
