sorry for the double post
okay, for my birthday, i got a sweet walnut shift **** and seat upholstery. and i got the know on, but the seats came without instructions, i got them from mustangs unlimited, and i have hog rings and pliers, i just need someone to tell me how to do it, or tell me where i can find out
thanks
thanks
I did mine a few years back, and I found it really easy to do. After you get the old covers off, check the foam rubber to see if it still has spring to it. If it is rotten, then order some new foam before installing the covers. While you have the covers off, check the metal parts of the seat to see if they need re-painting. Now, either use a blow dryer, or put the new seats in the clothes dryer for several minutes to warm them up. Now stretch one over one of the bucket seats and pull it very tight from all sides and corners. Get the wrinkles out. Now start hog ringing. This is the hardest part. Your hand really gets tired. When my hand started cramping, I quit for an hour or so before proceeding. Good luck with it.
Son and I did the upholstery awhile back and needed assist from the gurus here as well...see this post and try to get a helper to assist with the stretching while you place the hog nose rings..makes life so much easier!!!

I also just received a set of seat covers and foam from Mustangs Unlimited. They were kind enough to send a set of xeroxed directions that were basically useless. (Even the sketch they had was such bad quality that I couldn't make out what their intent was.) Also, my hog ring pliers that were supplied by Mustangs Unlimited snapped on the third ring.
So...after purchasing heavy duty hog ring pliers, two mustang interior books, and countless hours researching on the internet - I still not sure I'm up for the challenge. Last night I spent about 30 minutes putting in the first two hogrings attaching the cover through the foam. I'm concerned about tearing the new covers due to inexperience. One of the sites recommended steaming?
A local upholster-er has offered to recover (using my new covers and foam) for $350. Thoughts on whether I should continue or have a professional do it?!? Thanks in advance.

it's got to be easy, I mean come on. Soaring did it.
ACtually, it's not hard. My dad and I did my impala's seats. Both were bench, and that made it harder. So im suspecting when the time comes and i get enough to get pony seat covers, and foam, ill do it, and it shouldn't be all that hard.
