200 cid High performance options
is there a post (i couldnt find one) that goes over certain options you can do for a 200 cid? i am keeping the numbers matching otherwise i would swap for an 8. anything helps. thanks!
A lot of 6ers on here refer to the www.fordsix.com site for pertinent information regarding adding HP to their sixes. Upgrading the one lung carburetor to a two lunger is one of the first upgrades you might want to look into.
I have a 65 Mustang 200 cid that I am currently upgrading and I use the above referenced site quite often. Check it out, I've gotten a wealth of info and help using the site. I think if you use the this link, http://fordsix.com/forum/index.php , it will get you directly to the Ford six forum. Start your search in the area called 144-250 "small block" Six Performance. The following link http://www.classicinlines.com/ is an online store associated with the forum and used by a lot of us that are upgrading our inline sixes. I just ordered a split duration cam, adjustable rockers and a double chain timing gear to add to upgrades.
yeah, that site has a lot of good stuff. they are working on a S/C for the sixers too, you might wanna check that out. seems like it might be a good deal. matchit up with a new cam and a few other goodies and you'll be in business
so the link http://www.fordsixparts.com/ looks dead...which is a shame..
Another option to consider is switching to the big block 240 engine, it will give very good performance and it has lots of good performance parts available. One supplier that I have gotten good performance parts from in the past is Clifford research. They make some good intakes and headers and other stuff for Ford sixes. I believer the bolt patterns on the 200 and 240 are different, so things like trans and bell housing wont bolt up,. but 240 and 300 engines are pretty available and you can find lots of race parts for these in the southeast us as these were the engines of choice for oval track six cylinder racing classes.
Mustang652, tell me what you did to get the factory mag's on there....that is, to dump the 4-lug wheels. I'm guessing disc brake conversion on the front and a V8 rear end? I've asked about the rears before...seems like there should be a 5-lug drum out there from a falcon or maverick or something that would substitute for the 4-lug on my 66 I6 'vert.
theres lots of swaps out there that you can do. try our vendors first tho, you could prolly save a few beans. here's one which i believe can get you nes spindles too.
yup, CSRP. look for the member Degins, you can PM him with any questions you have.
