My C4 is dying a slow death , with a cost of a rebuild ahead of me, I was wondering does anyone know what it might cost to swap to a 4 speed instead of doing the rebuild. thanks.....

 

my c4 has started grinding as well... I have been keeping my eye on ebay and craigslist for a 4spd toploader and the average price seems to be about 500 bucks, and even these might need their own rebuilds.

 

Or you could rebuild the C4 for about 400 bux. It's not just the cost of the toploader, it is changing bell housings, adding a clutch, clutch pedals, etc. Not cheap.

 

how much hp/torque can a 4spd toploader handle? I want to switch to a stick, but I also want the transmission to be able to handle future engine upgrades

 

The lowest price rebuild for my C4 is $700.00.I guess living in Canada makes thing cost a little more so I guess swapping to a 4 speed will way to much money for me. Maybe when I get everything else done.FYI to day temp is 53F couple weeks ago it was in the 90s, good day for a drive will not have to worry about possilbe over heating.cheers........
