An old G.F. once told me it sounded like a bad power steering pump.
That's why she's an "old G.F."

(IMO) Weekend play toy, yeah maybe with a blower or at least nitrous, to back up the sound. Weekend cruiser, or daily driver, that whine gets to you after a while. I ran one for about 6 months before I pulled it out and sold it. When I ETS'd I had a little hearing damage from too many loud noises, the range of hearing damage makes the gear drive really harsh. Wish someone would do a split gear arangement. All the advantages w/o the noise. Some of the newer sets have a more helical cut, which helps considerably.

Really just depends on what you want. People who know cars, know the sound. People who don't, think you've got a problem.

Have one of those in my 65 with 351w, was in the engine when I bought it, makes a lot of noise, but seems to work just fine, actually a little bit of fun having people tell me whats "wrong" with my engine.

I think they sound dumb. A ford six had a gear drive stock and it is quite. I can see why you would want one for the benifits of no timing chain, but I would definatley want one that didn't sound like that. If they would just make the gears a true helical cut.

i think theres 2 different types of them...a loud and a louder...if its just loud, throw it on there. I like the sound....better than glasspacks, and people might think youve got a blower..lol
