Front coil lowering question
I hear a lot of talk about cutting the coils, etc to lower the front of the car. Are ya'll talking about simply taking a cutting tool and slicing the coil? Wouldnt that booger up the mounting surface in either the saddle or shock tower? Do you cut at an angle or cut at plain ol 90 degrees? Cut near the bottom or the top?
Once you cut, you will need to flatten the inactive coils which are the top and bottom ones. Here's how.

I'm with my auto teacher on this one if you cut and heat up your springs you are officially a retard and need to stop working on cars...!!! I'm sorry to say that but that is how i feel!
Yeah, heating the entire coil spring makes it sag and renders it virtually useless. But, in this case, he is only heating the tip of the last spring to make it flat. Actually, there are only three ways to safely cut a spring. One is with a diamond-tipped hacksaw blade; it will take some time but can be done. The other two ways are with an abrasive air-powered cutoff wheel or with a bench-mounted chop saw
What if you just cut them and not heat them up ?

On a mustang only the top of the coil is flattened where it seats up in the shock tower. The bottom of the spring is not flat and you can cut coils off of it and the perch will still accept the coil with no problems at all. So the answer is, cut the coils from the bottom of the spring at a 90 degree angle to the spring. Lets see if I have a pic.
