Default Need advice: replace gear box vs. rack & pinion

[:-]Hello Mustang fans. I came to that time of decision:
a)- replace already diagnosed bad steering gear box for probably refurbished one, average cost about 200-300$. I have enough money for it right now.
b)-wait and install manual rack and pinion kit from Flaming River or Total Control. Average cost 1200-1400$. Wait time: about next 6-8 months of saving money and not buying anything else for Mustang. That means stop to all other restoration work (all together about 80% completed.)
Right now steering becomes almost impossible and driving frightens me of hitting the car next to me or the traffic signs on the side. Forget about slow speed parking or manuvering. This is the reason I don't drive it much anymore: I'm scared. The car is a weekender, without much performance expected from it, except occasional "burn-out" at the light. The question is: should I go ahead and invest in solid, from ground up steering system, or install refurbished gear box, "for now", untill I get some money? If I wait, I probably would go big and change the whole suspension components as well as power steering kit, probably totaling at 2500-3000$. But that won't happen untill probably next year. Is it worth a wait?
Thanks for your advice, you guys are always great!
