Default Quoted From Maaco

Well i decided i should go check out maaco and see what they could do for me.

I will remove trim, lights, grill etc. kinda stuff myself (that saves ALOT of money for labor costs)
They will do all body work, dents, straighten everything up properly, fix a couple small rust spots strip and primer it.
Will paint it with 2nd best job available with nice clear coat and everything.

Came out to $5,200 and with some haggling and some 100's knocked off i got it down to $4,500.

I check out thier shop and the cars they had been doing just to see thier work. All looks good and they had some very good looking camaros and mustangs already painted. Only problem is they said the job will take around 3 MONTHS! Whats the average paint job turn around time?

what kind of condition is it in now? does it need any rust repair?? 4500 is still a good deal but my bodyshop only works on mustangs and they would charge me that much.

Its got ****ty paint, fenders dont match, chipping, bondo showing its under there etc. There are 3 quarter (the coin) size rust spots on the doors, and tailight valence. Theres some decent size dents in the roof. Its not perfect and is pretty wavy along its lines.

I would avoid Maaco if possible. Here in VA they are nothing but a low end , low quality franchise. They get it in,bondo and throw some paint on it. IF I was going to spend that much money on a paint job I would at least get 4 quotes from " reputable " paint shops. This is an investment and you need to shop . Visit a local car show OR cruiser show, If you see a beautiful paint job on a classic ask them WHO PAINTED YOUR CAR- You will at least get some leads to a good paint shop . Good Luck . ED
