I had a fender painted at Maaco once. It was a front fender on a Ford Ranger, from the pen stripe down, not even the entire fender. When I went to pick it up, it had a run in it that was a bout 6 inches long. How could they miss that before giving me my invoice? It's not like they painted the entire vehicle, it wa 1/2 of a fender. At least they buffed it out for me. I wont be back to Maaco anytime soon.

I would never go to Maaco and $4500 is about right from what you state the car condition is in. Any GOOD shop will charge you about $5000 - $6000 for a nice job, so I don't think their price is anything to do cart wheels over..

I spent 5 grand to have the body on mine restored. I had it done at a classic only shop. They took every part of the body off that they could, sand blasted it, welded in new metal in a few places, put in a new front windshield, replaced the headliner, all new weather stripping to include the felts, painted it several coats and clear coated it. That included painting the interior and trunk as well. That took about a month. I can pretty much guarantee you that Maaco is not going to do all that work, and their paint jobs are inferior. I would do some more checking around.

The Maaco slogan around here is: "You get what you pay for." And around here, they are cheap.

Maaco Sucks. Trust me. The paint would start dulling, cracking, chipping in a month, because they paint it so thin.

I wouldn't even take a piece of crap $800 dollar daily driver to Maaco!!!!!!! Do youself a favor and find somebody that is actually good. Of the people I know that have had their cars painted at that so called body shop they couldn't even take there cars a normal car wash. The paint would come right off. And a year later the car needs to be repainted again!! It even says in their warranty information that you can't take your car to a car wash or it voids the warranty. That place is a joke. Do what you have to do but I know I am giving you the right advise to run as far from that place as possible.

Ask around at a local cruise night or Classic Car show in your area.
Word of mouth is the best advertising.

I know the whole you pay what you get for slogan. And i saw thier basic paint jobs. You know the honda civic that doesnt even want thier crunched car fixed, just repainted. All those were pretty much being done in the parking lot lol. As for the Novas and the Camaros they were giving amazing detail to. But yeah, i am most definatly going to look around else where. I cant live without my baby for 3 months.

And on a different note. The colors i'm debating between are Raven Black with the Red Mach 1 stripes, or A nice charcoal grey with black Mach 1 stripes. Have any pictures of some gun metal grey/charcoal grey mustangs?

My mom had her business van painted by maaco. They did a pretty good job. It had no runs, paint never chipped, It is shiny. we have had the van for 2 years. I dont really see what is so bad. I think it is just certain maaco shops that have bad quality.
