gas pedal spring install help

I'll be damn. I learn something every day. Mine doesn't have that, so I guess it was taken off years ago. My pedal flops a little from left to right, but not enough to worry me. I have just figured all these years that was just the way it was supposed to be.
Same here...I guess I should see if mine is there. I tend to use mine in digital form though, on or off. Is there an in between?

Do you know how to remove the screw to remove the pedal and how to re-install. The pictures helped a lot as far as the position of the spring. Thanks a lot.

Mine didn't have a pin. It was just a phillips screw that you get to from the left.

Mine has a phillips head on the right which goes through the back mounting of the pedal and looks like it screws in to a bolt, but the problem is that I cannot unsrew the phillips the bolt keeps turning and i cant get a grip on it. its not a hex bolt just plain round. I saw no pin

any advice as how to get this out?

it is an accelerator pedal spring part # 9760 for 65-68 mustangs
