Default so many colors!!!

ok, i got some paint stripper so i can start getting this cancer off my doors and passenger wheel well rim. after about 7 coats of this stripper i finally hit bare metal. now i knew my car used to be the color royal maroon, but under that is metalic gold paint. was that used as a undercoat for this maroon or is this like a special color or something?

My 67 had deep red paint under the original in the trunk, so I always thought the primer was red....

Could have been painted multiple times in its life. The primer on my '71 was the reddish brown stuff.
