as ive said in an earlier post i have a 66 289 mustang. i have a brand new starter switch, solenoid, and battery but when ever i try to start the car it will not stop turning over after i release the key... what can i do from here? any suggestions will be greatly appreciated thanks.

 

Problems like this are hard to pinpoint sometimes. I had trouble with the engine continuing to run with the switch off. I would have to pull the "I" wire off the solenoid to get it to cut off. It turned out to be the alternator back feeding the ignition system.

Take out circuits until you lose the problem. Then see what is in that circuit once it stops.

 

i'd say youve got a sticking solenoid or your starter is getting hung up in your flywheel.
