Driver side shock cover cracked...
So I heard some squeaking driving around today, and noticed the car was awfully bouncy when I was getting out of it..took a look and it turns out the driver side shock cover has a mean looking crack towards the bottom of it...[&:]
Anybody have any ideas on repair costs?

I'll work on getting some pics up tonight... but I just checked out Todd1919's post about his "shock tower cover" which appears to be the same thing I'm talking about.. and he's only looking at about $73.00 to replace his... throw some labor on that and that's still a lot less than I'd figured.

That won't make the car bouncy

i'm getting conflicting advice.. i've got people telling me it's not important, just a piece of metal, not hurting anything by being cracked.. which I'm skeptical of... and then I've got people telling me the pad thing on it is supposed to do something for the coil and if it's cracked and not positioned right it will screw things up.. i've got no idea.. i'm voting for replacing the thing either way.
If it is cracked that would generally mean that the suspension is bottoming out and would need the shocks replaced. The suspension snubber is on that piece. Also called a rebound bumper.
