Console + Shifter= ?!
no, i disagree. keep the stock shifter. i am looking for the stock console for my 66 coupe and finally found one. 350 bux, but for me it's worth it. i would not remove the consloe, nor would i install anything that would cause me to have to modify the console. plus that shifter is for a car without a console and really aint nothing special.
There are advantages of using a rachet style shifter over the old stock shifter. Like for instance...not slamming into nuetral or reverse when drag racing. However, I would not cut up the console to install one. Either use the console with the stock shifter (I do that in my 65) or install the after market rachet and remove the console.
Gah now i dunno what to do! [&:] Atomsk, i have that console cover you're talkin about, it fits over teh stock console and has a spot for 2 cup holders, a phone, and a hole for teh shifter. Also it has taht flip up lid stuff. Its pretty cool. I dont have to make a decision anytime soon, thanks for yalls input.

I know what you mean. I have a serious challenge. I have a bench seat and a 4 speed. I didn't want to lose the bench, but I wanted to have some sort of console that didn't look cheesy, so I contacted Mustang Connection (see the cover Mustang on the current M&F magazine) to see if they could make one for me.
Well, a few emails and phone calls with Peter Faull and I am close to having my console done (for all of you 67-68 bench seat owners, there is now a console option for you.
The reason I am posting this in answer to you 6mustang6, is that he makes one for 65-66 Mustangs.

The Mustang Connection console is basically a reproduction of the '68 Shelby and is made for the Branda catalog.
Thanks Rally. Those look really good..... but damn. I just thought of something, i have a stereo under my dash, that would be totally covered up. Im going to email, and ask if they can make a slot for a DIN radio, or any new style cd player radio, or i might be able to cut one out myself.
