Default Will this fix it?

Hey i have a 1968 302 coupe. I have been having overheating problems. Curently there is a electric fan puttin air to the engine. The problem is when the car idles or is just sitting in traffic it overheats the needle goes all the way to the H. First i thought maybe that it was just becsause its been hot in LA latley but then i relised when i drive it on the freeway the air flow to the engine is much better and the needle sits in the middle where it should be. I also had the mechanic chek the heat of the engine incase the readin was rong on the gauge but it was about 225 to 240 if i rember correct. We cheked the radiator and i don't think it is that so what we have done is ordered a stock fan and shroud for it to try to improve the air flow to the engine. The guy who previously owned the car he was actually thre original owner and he didnt have the fan anymore so we ordered this new fan and shroud. Do you think this will fix the problem?
Thanx for the time -adam

It might. If the stock fan is at least a 6 blade fan, and you have a recovery tank, and at least a 3 row radiator, you should be OK. But, if your stock radiator is a 2 row, you may not get it cooler until you replace the rad with either a 3 or 4 row.

Sounds right. The point is that upgrades and aftermarket cooling system parts must be added to these old engines that inherently run hot.
