Default Question for MyShifter

what are those things you have atop your valve springs and what improvements do they make you the valve train?

stud girdles, helps keep valvetrain flex down, as opposed to using shaft mounted rockers

how do they work opposed to the rockers? you have pics? trying to look at them in your sig is a little un-nerving. LOL!

you use regular rockers like always, the girdle ties all the rocker studs together to eliminate any one stud from flexing under high rpm and heavy spring loads. On that motor open spring pressure is around 615lbs, without a girdle, the rocker arm studs have a tendency to flex and alter the calculated valvetrain

okay, noiw correct me if i'm wrong here. the cam pushes against the pushrods (i guess that's what they are called), the pushrods push up on the rockers, the rockers push down on the valves and open them to let air/fuel in/exhaust out.

the girdle keeps both sides from flexing, the pushrods and the valves?

it keeps the rocker arm stud from flexing when the pushrod is trying to open a 600lb spring

okay and the rocker arm stud is the part that gets pushed up by the cam and opens the valves?

no the stud is screwed into the head and holds the rocker arm which will push on the valve tip and open the valve
