Car starts then stalls...help?
Hey guys. It's been a while, but now I have another problem...
I just got off work and was merging onto the freeway, and the car just dies. I put it in 2nd from 3rd and pop the clutch and it starts again, then dies right away. I roll over to the side of the road and give it a second. Try to start it again, starts up, and dies 2 seconds later. Since then, I have replaced the fuel filter, checked the pump and replaced the points...and to no avail. The majority of the time it will start up and run for about 2 seconds and die. Occasionally, it will run for around 10 seconds with steady pressure on the gas, and then die.
I promise there's gas in the car!
Help? Is it a carb problem?

Yep, if it starts, you are getting fire, so you can basically rule out ignition. But not entirely. It sounds like you are starving for fuel with either a plugged line or filter. Check your filter in the sending unit to see if rust particles have plugged it. Then check your fuel pump by taking off the line from the carb and see if you are getting a good flow of fuel. If not, then suspicion the fuel pump. If you get a good flow, then you need to take your carb off and clean it.
Yeah, I already checked the pump in that way and I definitely got a good flow of gas. I'm gonna say it's the carb and probably get a new one. I think it's a 1v though, so I'll have to find one somewhere. Does anyone know who made the original carb on the 200 so that I know what to look for?

it's listed as the 170 carb, the autolite 1100. you could also go out and get a rebuild kit for it.
you said you checked the pump, is it working propertly or is it running weak? it could also be your pump isn't working as it should.
