Default RE: MSD?...

I also run an MSD-6AL with a mechanical advance Accel distributor (originally a dual point, triple ball bearing racing distributor, but it works for a trigger as well). I have had zero problems with this setup (although I plan to upgrade to a newer model racing distributor in the very near future...by stealing it out of my dad's Fairmont[sm=devilgrin.gif]..it hasn't been built up, so it can run a stock ignition).

It really depends on your engine if a high end ignition is 'overkill.' If you're running any version of high compression and high rpm, you really do need a high performance ignition. I run 11.2:1 static compression up to 6500 rpm. Points weren't working anymore and I wasn't going to waste money 'testing' a mild step up.

As noted, the additional modules that can be added to something like the MSD-6AL also make it very beneficial. Everything from manual timing adjustment to timing computers and rpm switches/windows...

FYI...I bought my system through both Jegs and Summit Racing.
