what is a 351 m/400 engine is it a 351 or a 400 ? and does any one have any info on this engine?

no, They are two different motors. A 351M and a 400. Same block and design. I hear that they suck

M - stands for modified. And yeah theyre boat anchor motors.

They are boat anchors because they were meant mainly for Ford pickup trucks and larger Ford cars. The rods are longer, so a bigger stroke, therefore longer to wind up. But they pull heavy oads as they were meant to do.

thanks zero. Well Glen, you cant read to good either. It says they started making the M engines for trucks in 78, so it'll make it about 4 years. So i was kinda correct with my statement.

I know for a fact that there were A LOT of 351M's put in F150's. They were a very good engine for the truck. Their long rods gave them more torque and allowed them to run lower RPMS. Just not really the engine you want for a perfomance car, but great for a truck. I've had them in a few trucks and the engine is a beast.
