Default Fan shroud install problems

The fan shroud came today. I got it installed no problem then came putting the fan back on. Now the damn fan hits the bottom of the fan shroud. There is plenty of room between the top of the shroud and fan but between the bottom of the shroud and fan there is no room, it scrapes badly. The bolt holes on the shroud and bracket are elongated and are at there lowest points. So whats my problem? Am I going to have to trim the shroud?

No, that's the same shroud I have. Mine scraped at first, but then I loosened all the bolts a tad and pushed it down as far as it would go, making sure I had the same spacing on the bottom from the left to the right side. Then, I had to use my forefingers and thumb to slightly bend the area where it was hitting. The metal is thin, so will bend easily with your fingers. Just keep massaging it, and it will work just fine.

You will find you won't need to cut anything off, but if push comes to shove there won't be any harm in cutting it off. If you are worried about your brackets being on correctly, yes they are on right. Check out mine. You will notice I painted my brackets so it would blend in better with the black engine compartment. Oh, and it looks like you have your fan blades in the shroud about halfway. That's good. Just do some tweaking.
On edit: I notice you have your overflow recovery tank hose routed through the bracket, and we have the same hose. Thanks for showing me that. I will re-route mine tomowrrow.

Your welcome. I had to do some trimming of that bottom piece. Took forever to get the right amount cut off and I may have loss some hearing but oh well. The crappy part is now I found out my fan wobbles! It wont contact anything when I spin it without the engine on but when I start her up there is quite a bit of contact. My grandpa was over today and he noticed that my blades were all cut up at the edges, like they had been hitting something. Do I need to replace the fan or the clutch? I was hoping to drive her tonight too. [>:]

You can use a pair of vice grips or just a big pair of pliars to bend the very tips of the fan blades so they don't make contact with the shroud. In the future though, if your fan wobbles, you have a burned out clutch in your fan. Replace the clutch.

What about my fan blades being beat up? On the tips of them they are ground away pretty good. I did have to do some bending of the blades. It doesnt contact now but I'm gonna get a new clutch for it.

Not to worry about the very tips of the blades. At least now you can drive it without it rubbing the shroud. Have a nice evening ride.

Well I got my hopes to high. I was just about to leave when I put it in reverse and the fan just went crazy hitting the shroud. Needless to say, I am ordering a new fan clutch tomorrow. They make 7 blade fans in 16"?
